Should You Follow Fitness Book Advise?

Posted on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Books

In most cases, when a person wants to seriously get into shape they seek help from some type of knowledgeable source instead of doing it all by themselves. Why not just eat right and exercise? Well, as it turns out that’s the long way of getting into shape. There is a variety of factors that can make the process go faster, but the truth is that most of us are simply unaware of them. Luckily however, a number of fitness instructors have written their own fitness books in an attempt to spread their knowledge to the world.

Fitness Books

These fitness books are most of the time not only a great source of general knowledge on the topic, but they also provide you with various step by step plans designed to help you lose weight. On top of that, they also offer a good amount of advice when it comes to staying in shape and keeping the weight off, which is the hard part as it requires a certain amount of specific lifestyle changes. On the other hand though, it just happens that some of these books were written by people who are simply in it for the money and have no real knowledge to share. However, these products don’t go too long without getting shunned by disgruntled customers.

My personal recommendation when it comes to getting a fitness program is the TRX system. While the price of $199 may put some people off, you should keep in mind that you can easily find a TRX coupon code in order to get it at a discount. The system is basically comprised of suspension cables that are used for the workout, and a book with a variety of exercises, variations, and fitness routines. All in all, the TRX system is designed to provide you with a complete body workout, and if you would like to learn more about it simply check out some reviews and testimonies, and don’t forget to visit the official website.

The Best Books to Give an Engaged Christian Couple

Posted on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Religion

There are tons of different engagement gift ideas that you can choose from but if you know a Christian couple who are planning on getting married, a book that prepares them for a Christian marriage is one of the best gifts you can give. There are lots of books that discuss Christian marriage according to The Bible, but not all these books are the same.

Here are the some of the best books you can give an engaged Christian couple to help prepare them for marriage.

Money and Marriage: A Complete Guide for Engaged and Newly Married Couples by Matt Bell

Money is actually one of the most popular reasons for couples fighting after they get married. This book helps engaged couples come together when with their views on finance according to what Scripture says. Couples can learn how to fend off any arguments about money, which helps develop a much healthier marriage.

He’s Not a Mind Reader and Other Brilliant Insights for a Fabulous First Year of Marriage by Brenda Garrison

This may sound like a silly title but this book is very helpful when it comes to communication and learning to live as husband and wife in the early days of marriage. Marriage is life changing and it can take a while to get used to living with your spouse. This book is mainly for the woman and what she may encounter in her first year of marriage and how to handle the situations.

Things I Wish I’d Known Before We Got Married by Gary Chapman

This book teaches couples how to work together instead of drawing apart in their marriage. In the book the author shares tips he wishes someone would have shared with him before getting married so he would have been prepared. He addresses all aspects of the marriage and helps to get discussions going with your future spouse as well so you can address any problems before the couple marries.

Any one of these three books would make a great engagement gift for a Christian couple. Although books may not be your typical engagement gift, these books can help form a solid marriage foundation that can last for years and years to come.

Language Learning Through Books

Posted on Sunday, December 25, 2011 in Language Learning

With the prevalence of modern day technology, books are quickly becoming a forgotten medium when it comes to learning a new language. Despite the benefits of new technology however, there are still some great benefits from using a language learning book.

The biggest drawbacks of using books for learning a new language is that they are not interactive. For instance CD’s and online programs can give you examples of how a word is spoken.  Despite this there is one big expense to all of these benefits – expense.

Most of these programs tend to be a little pricey, and that is where books can beat interactive software hands down,.

Learning a new language through a book is not as hard as you may think, and these books are often used by many professional services that need to work in bi-lingual environments such as maid services and receptionists.

To start with, while you cannot hear exactly how a word should sound, they often give you clear directions on the different sounds you will need to make.  This actually means you need to learn the sounds, rather than just memorize the words, something that most interactive tools do.

Books also are much more easily accessible. You can easily carry a language book in your bag, read it when you have a few minutes, and take it on your travels.  The accessibility of books is not just in their portability, but also because you can also browse to the exact part of the book you need to find the information you want.

The final additional benefit of using a language book is that you can use it in addition to language learning software to ensure you get a comprehensive learning experience,  Using a book as a learning aid can fill the gaps that some software may leave unfilled.

How To Get The Children To Write Stories

Posted on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Writing

We want to get the children to be able to use their imaginations from an early age. And they often do this when they are playing. They make up all kinds of scenarios and we can take advantage of this to encourage them to begin to write.

Helping the children to become good writers is a way to both aid their writing skills but also to encourage them to use their imaginations as well. And we may just find that they really take to it and actually continue their fiction writing as they get older.

So, what kind of approach should we take?

What will work best is if you get them to write down a little story that they have just enacted. If they have been playing with their Lalaloopsy doll then just by watching your child you can see that she has a whole world going on. She will be playing out something from her imagination. You can then simply ask your child to write down what adventure the doll has just been on.

Not only will this improve her actual writing skills, she will learn new words if you help as well. It will also encourage her to draw some of the events in the story as well.

There are some great videos to help teach writing skills to children, like in the one in this article.

Do You Know Of Any Good Books On CPR?

Posted on Friday, November 25, 2011 in Books

I was searching online the other day for books about where to get cpr training and I noticed an odd thing. There weren’t any that actually explained either how to do cpr or where to find cpr training classes. I did see a bunch of products related to cpr but no books offering instructions or anything like a step by step guide on how to give someone cardiopulmonary resuscitation. There is plenty of information on other web sites so I know there is a healthy interest in this topic, but I thought it was strange that a site like Amazon didn’t have a reasonable stock of relevant books.

Having said that, I still use Amazon as my number one source for books because 9 times out of 10 they have the best prices and the latest releases. Thinking about it, I also usually head there first for a lot of things apart from books too. As I was researching cpr I was also looking at where people have to go to buy those manikins for practicing cpr on, and also the best defibrillator for people to use when someone suffers a cardiac arrest. Amazon actually had a great selection of both. I’m not sure Amazon can be classed as a bookseller any longer. Even though half the stuff they sell is shipped by the companies that manufacture the products, they are still one of the go to places for anything you can buy online.

Recent books about stock market success stories

Posted on Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Books

Do the following names mean anything to you? Peter Lynch, Benjamin Graham, Carl Icahn, George Soros, Warren Buffett? Well even if you’re not very familiar with finance, the last name on that list should give you a very good indication of what kind of individuals we’re referring to. Of course, we’re talking about stocks market investors who have been so successful they have made a name for themselves. Countless books have been written about them, and there’s even an Investopedia entry titled The Greatest Investors.

Now if I say John Paulson, do you know who I’m talking about? Odds are, you have no clue who this guy is. This guy’s claim to fame is that he is the one who made the most money off of one investment play. He bet against the housing market at the right time, as he correctly estimated that it was overheating and prime for a major correction.

He pocketed a couple billion dollars in the process and his story has been documented in a book titled The Greatest Trade Ever. I read it, and it’s pretty good. I personally think that the fact that the guy made one great trade doesn’t automatically mean he’s a great investor. We’ll have to see if he can keep winning, as the guys who earned the label “greatest investors” have been able to do consistently.

The World of Harry Potter

Posted on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Books

Author JK Rowling has announced her newest venture, which is the online world of ‘Pottermore’.  Unfortunately, only one million lucky users who were drawn randomly have had access to the world, while he official opening has been pushed back several times.  The world is not only an online experience similar to a virtual world, but it will also offer the Harry Potter books in digital editions for the first time ever.  By taking this step, JK Rowling has become one of the first authors who has decided to take her products directly to the customers, thereby cutting out the publishing houses and booksellers such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

The Harry Potter movies, meanwhile, are available for the first time as a complete set, but only until the end of the year.  Warner Brothers has decided to imitate the Disney model, which is that of the ‘vault’; the movies will be pulled from the market, only to be reintroduced at a later date.  Whether this is a success or not remains to be seen.  The sale of the full set of movies will probably be brisk for the end of 2011 simply because it is a popular gift to give to a child at Christmas time.

Is Taking Out Payday Loan Against the Bible?

Posted on Monday, November 14, 2011 in Education

In the bible we read passages where it talks about not charging usury, and many people equate that to saying that any type of loan is wrong and immoral according to biblical principles.  However, we also see countless passages concerning the need to help out others and to help feed your neighbor.

Given these two views, would God really expect someone to simply give money to their neighbor in need, or would he rather you extend a bad credit loan for 1000 to several people?  And would a payday loan be considered usury?

In my opinion (as I’m not a priest by any means but do like to study the good book often), God would rather us be able to help many people than just a select few – and if I’m a business then I can help many more than I otherwise would be able to.  In terms of usury and payday loans, that really begs the question of what ‘usury’ really means.  Does it mean simply charging a lot of money, or does it mean ‘excessive profits’ from a loan?  If it means excessive profits, then I could actually see an argument for a payday loan not being labeled as Usury.  Most payday lenders don’t break even for several years, so at least in that sense it would not be usury.  Of course, that is still debateble, but I would recommend reading on immediatecashloans.org to find out both sides of the argument.

Free Games With Today’s Technology

Posted on Friday, November 11, 2011 in Free Games

There is a lot to be said for today’s technology, not just the fact that it has opened up so many resources to all of us, and particularly our young children. In fact there is so much information available that it is sometimes a problem not to get information overload.

However one of the really great things is that we now have a lot of free games that our children can access. This would not all be available if it was not for the internet. There is only so much you can buy your children, even at Christmas, and with so much to compete for their time the chances are that the things on their list would more likely be top toys Christmas 2011 rather than anything like games.

So why not sit with your children, and look through all the games that are available to them. Try to help them pick some games that will be both educational as well as fun. After all you do want something that will really engage them. If not they will just become bored, and then not continue.

If this is not possible then you might have to consider what you can get as a Christmas Gift after all.

Writing as a Home Based Business

Posted on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Writing

If you have had dreams or thoughts of having a home based business, then it’s time you took a serious look at this. There are lots of different ways that you can get started to make some extra income from home. One way to do this is to provide your writing services online. There are lots of good sites that connect writers with people who need articles written. Sites like Odesk, Freelance, Textbroker, and Fiverr come to mind.

If writing is something you like to do and you don’t mind researching about a bunch of different topics, then you can do well with this line of work provided that you can find someone who will pay you enough for the time you put in writing the article. After a while with this, you may want to consider writing for yourself. By this, I mean you can create a website around something you’re passionate about and write high quality content in order to attract visitors. From there, you can make money from selling products or recommending other people’s products through affiliate marketing. There aren’t a lot of things that you learn in school that can directly help make you money but writing is definitely one of the few things that will.
